Songwriting Courses
An eight week introductory course in Songwriting. The course covers elements of popular song writing, including lyric writing, melody, harmony and chordal stucture, hooks and song form, as well as exploring methods for opening up your creativity and creating effective writing habits.

COURSE OVERVIEW
- Songwriting - How to set your goals
- Songwriting approaches and styles
- Lyrics - how to start, when to stop, how to refine
- Melody - the life of the song
- Harmony - the bones of the song
- Song structures
- Troubleshooting, re-writing, collaboration and other work practices
Each Week there will be practical exercises and you will complete at least one new original song during the course. Although there are no prerequisites to enroll in the songwriting course it is strongly recommended that students have a basic understanding of major and minor scale construction as well as the diatonic chord system.
